Zhang Hua, <em>Poissons<\/em>, huile sur toile, 64 x 28 cm ; Zhang Hua, <em>Poissons<\/em>, huile sur toile, 55 x 30,5 cm<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>A SURPRISING THEME IN ZHANG HUA&rsquo;S WORK, THE CHINESE CARP<br>by Christophe Comentale<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recent discovery on the art market of a series of five works by Zhang Hua on the theme of fish by an artist known for his representations of characters on the one hand and for an impressive production of abstract polychrome works born from the observation of urban changes during his stay in New York on the other leads us to reflect on the place of this water dragon in the culture and in the work of a non-conformist painter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u5f20\u534e\u4f5c\u54c1\u4e2d\u4e00\u4e2a\u4ee4\u4eba\u60ca\u8bb6\u7684\u4e3b\u9898\uff0c\u4e2d\u56fd\u9ca4\u9c7c<br>\u4f5c\u8005 Christophe Comentale (\u67ef\u5b5f\u5fb7)<br>\u6700\u8fd1\u5728\u827a\u672f\u5e02\u573a\u4e0a\u53d1\u73b0\u4e86\u5f20\u534e\u4ee5\u9c7c\u4e3a\u4e3b\u9898\u7684\u4e94\u4ef6\u7cfb\u5217\u4f5c\u54c1\uff0c\u4e00\u65b9\u9762\u662f\u8fd9\u4f4d\u4ee5\u8868\u73b0\u4eba\u7269\u800c\u95fb\u540d\u7684\u827a\u672f\u5bb6\uff0c\u53e6\u4e00\u65b9\u9762\u662f\u4ed6\u5728\u7ebd\u7ea6\u9017\u7559\u671f\u95f4\u56e0\u89c2\u5bdf\u57ce\u5e02\u53d8\u5316\u800c\u8bde\u751f\u7684\u4ee4\u4eba\u5370\u8c61\u6df1\u523b\u7684\u62bd\u8c61\u5f69\u8272\u4f5c\u54c1\uff0c\u8fd9\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u53cd\u601d\u8fd9\u6761\u6c34\u9f99\u5728\u6587\u5316\u548c\u4e00\u4e2a\u4e0d\u58a8\u5b88\u6210\u89c4\u7684\u753b\u5bb6\u7684\u4f5c\u54c1\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>QUELQUES REMARQUES SUR LA CARPE, POISSON POPULAIRE EN CHINE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pourquoi le th\u00e8me du poisson, plus exactement de la carpe, dans l\u2019\u0153uvre de Zhang Hua&nbsp;?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;La d\u00e9nomination de carpes de Chine concerne trois esp\u00e8ces de Cyprinid\u00e9s&nbsp;: la carpe Amour ou Amour blanc (car originaire du fleuve Amour) ou carpe herbivore (Ctenopharyngodon idella), la carpe argent\u00e9e (hypophthalmichthys mollitrix), la carpe marbr\u00e9e ou carpe \u00e0 grosse t\u00eate (Aristichthys nobilis)&nbsp;\u00bb lit-on dans le R\u00e8glement (CE) n\u00b0 708\/2007 du Conseil du 11 juin 2007 de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration fran\u00e7aise d\u2019aquaculture. Il est dit aussi que ces carpes \u00ab&nbsp;ont \u00e9t\u00e9 introduites en Europe centrale puis en France \u00e0 partir de 1960 (\u2026).&nbsp; En outre, un d\u00e9cret sur les eaux, en particulier les eaux closes, a abouti \u00e0 interdire d\u00e9sormais, sous peine d\u2019une amende de 9000 euros, la pr\u00e9sence de ces trois esp\u00e8ces dans les piscicultures et les eaux closes (\u2026). Les pisciculteurs et les clients de ces m\u00eames pisciculteurs doivent \u00e9galement solliciter leur pr\u00e9fet afin d\u2019obtenir une autorisation pour empoissonner leurs plans d\u2019eau avec ces esp\u00e8ces&nbsp;!&nbsp;\u00bb.&nbsp;Ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments disparates renvoient \u00e0 une appellation plus connue, celle de la carpe ko\u00ef. Le terme japonais \u00ab&nbsp;ko\u00ef&nbsp;\u00bb&nbsp;(\u9bc9 <em>ou li en chinois<\/em>)&nbsp;signifie simplement&nbsp;<em>carpe<\/em>. Les carpes dont la couleur a \u00e9t\u00e9 modifi\u00e9 par une \u00e9volution g\u00e9n\u00e9tique particuli\u00e8re sont appr\u00e9ci\u00e9es, plus essentiellement pour leur chair mais pour leur aspect ornemental, d\u2019o\u00f9 la terminologie japonaise de <em>nishiki-goi<\/em>&nbsp;(\u9326\u9bc9,&nbsp;litt\u00e9ralement \u00ab&nbsp;carpe de&nbsp;brocart&nbsp;\u00bb), des termes d\u00e9riv\u00e9s du chinois si l\u2019on se r\u00e9f\u00e8re aux caract\u00e8res employ\u00e9s. <em>j\u01d0nl\u01d0<\/em>&nbsp;(&nbsp;\u9526\u9ca4&nbsp;ou en graphie non simplifi\u00e9e&nbsp;\u9326\u9bc9&nbsp;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La carpe ko\u00ef n&rsquo;est pas originaire du&nbsp;Japon. &nbsp;C&rsquo;est en&nbsp;Chine&nbsp;qu&rsquo;apparaissent les premiers \u00e9crits les concernant vers&nbsp;500&nbsp;av. J.-C.&nbsp;La carpe ko\u00ef est introduite au&nbsp;Japon&nbsp;lors des invasions chinoises qui ont intensifi\u00e9 la sinisation de cette culture. Les premi\u00e8res techniques d&rsquo;\u00e9levage de cette carpe ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 mises en place en Chine, essentiellement pour la saveur de la chair de ce poisson. Les variations chromatiques se limitaient alors au rouge et au gris. Les premi\u00e8res mutations chromatiques remarquables apparaissent entre 1804 et 1830 et concernent les carpes rouges, blanches et jaunes. Entre 1830 et 1850, les&nbsp;<em>variantes polychromes<\/em>&nbsp;se dessinent \u00e0 la suite d&rsquo;un croisement entre une carpe blanche et une carpe rouge. D\u00e8s la fin du&nbsp;XIX<sup>e<\/sup>&nbsp;si\u00e8cle, la plupart des vari\u00e9t\u00e9s actuelles sont reconnues. Pour les stabiliser comme nous les connaissons actuellement il faut attendre le&nbsp;XX<sup>e<\/sup>&nbsp;si\u00e8cle. Selon une des nombreuses&nbsp;l\u00e9gendes chinoises relatives \u00e0 ce poisson, les carpes du&nbsp;fleuve Jaune, apr\u00e8s avoir remont\u00e9 le fleuve, s&rsquo;envoleraient vers le ciel en se transformant en&nbsp;dragons.&nbsp;Les couleurs \u00e9clatantes et le corps \u00e9l\u00e9gant des poissons Ko\u00ef symbolisent la richesse et l\u2019opulence, tout comme un homophone du mot poisson livraisons d\u2019articles sur ce site, nous avons pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 succinctement Zhang Hua (1898-1970), artiste dont l\u2019\u0153uvre compte plusieurs centaines de peintures, de dessins et d\u2019\u0153uvres sur des supports autres, en particulier sur des pi\u00e8ces de mobilier, des mannequins de couturi\u00e8re ou des instruments de musique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De m\u00eame que diff\u00e9rents artistes de cette <em>Ecole de Paris<\/em>, comme Roger Bertin qui s\u00e9journe au sud de la Chine a int\u00e9gr\u00e9 dans son \u0153uvre une approche calligraphique (ill. 3), Zhang Hua a adopt\u00e9 une polychromie dont les drippings et les taches, traces et autres \u00e9l\u00e9ments graphiques structurent son \u0153uvre au fil de d\u00e9cennies d\u2019une cr\u00e9ation intense Les deux huiles sur toile traduisent la force d\u2019observation de l\u2019artiste qui a adopt\u00e9 pour la circonstance une palette assez proche de celle que l\u2019on retrouve au fil des cr\u00e9ations produite \u00e0 Vallauris durant plusieurs d\u00e9cennies, notamment les verts et les rouges. De m\u00eame, les trois dessins sont trois feuilles d\u2019album de dimensions identiques (24 cm sur 32 cm), un format courant pour les feuilles d\u2019\u00e9tudes que les artistes fran\u00e7ais utilisent. Parisien, Zhang Hua a eu toute latitude pour admirer les poissons exotiques vendus sur les quais de la Seine et qui, durant plusieurs d\u00e9cennies, en particulier des ann\u00e9es 1960 \u00e0 2000 In the same way that various artists of this School of Paris, such as Roger Bertin, who lived in southern China, integrated a calligraphic approach into his work (ill), Zhang Hua adopted a polychromy whose drippings and stains, traces and other graphic elements structure his work over decades of intense creation (ill). Zhang Hua left more than twenty self-portraits&nbsp; of himself, just as he seems to have integrated well into his host society, he frequently depicts himself with friends, especially artist friends (ill).&nbsp;His characters, men and women, are also depicted in the intimacy of the studio, it is surprising both in form and content. He rubbed shoulders with artists now recognized for their thematic and stylistic originality, so he lived in the same place as his colleague Pan Yuliang (1895-1977), both of whom painted identical subjects, while giving them their own identity. Her creative strength has been compared to that of Louise Bourgeois, who is more scattered but just as enterprising on various subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FOCUS ON THE FISH SERIES PAINTED BY ZHANG HUA<br>DURING THE 50S AND 60S<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This series of fish, known to date, includes two oils on canvas and three polychrome works drawn in coloured pencil. The two oils on canvas reflect the artist&rsquo;s power of observation, who adopted a palette for the occasion quite close to that found in the creations produced in Vallauris over several decades, particularly greens and reds. Similarly, the three drawings are three album sheets of identical dimensions (24 cm by 32 cm), a common format for the study sheets used by French artists.
