Dans une pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente livraison (S&amp;AC, 1<sup>er<\/sup> novembre 2024), il a \u00e9t\u00e9 question de l\u2019\u0153uvre d\u2019Yvonne Bilis R\u00e9gnier. La pr\u00e9sente contribution s\u2019attache \u00e0 mettre en perspective une \u0153uvre embl\u00e9matique de Dominique Irma Dalozo, <em>A la crois\u00e9e des chemins<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure Tristan et Iseult surprise par le roi Marc\u2019h<\/strong><\/em> (1902), coll. priv\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#cb4444\"><strong>DE QUELQUES ELEMENTS BIOGRAPHIQUES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peintre ind\u00e9pendante d\u2019origine argentine, Dominique Irma Dalozo na\u00eet dans ce pays en 1920, suit une scolarit\u00e9 qui donne une forte importance \u00e0 la culture humaniste. Avec le soutien de Richard Weibel, attach\u00e9 culturel de France en Argentine, elle gagne l\u2019Hexagone pour effectuer un voyage d\u2019\u00e9tudes \u00e0 la fin de la Deuxi\u00e8me Guerre Mondiale. Elle s\u2019\u00e9tablit dans le 15<sup>e<\/sup> arrondissement de Paris o\u00f9 elle d\u00e9c\u00e8de en 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elle laisse un fonds de plus de 2000 dessins sur papier et d\u2019\u0153uvres sur panneau de bois. Cette masse importante d\u2019\u0153uvres s\u2019est \u00e9toff\u00e9e durant ces d\u00e9cennies d\u2019une vie quotidienne et artistique partag\u00e9e avec une amie proche, Yvonne Bilis R\u00e9gnier (1926-2017). Les deux femmes ont fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 le milieu culturel parisien, ainsi, \u00e0 la familiarit\u00e9 avec ce microcosme intellectuel et artistique s\u2019ajoutent les visites aux mus\u00e9es et aux collections priv\u00e9es nombreuses qui refl\u00e8tent l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9gance de leur sensibilit\u00e9 (mus\u00e9e du Louvre, mus\u00e9e Jacquemart-Andr\u00e9\u2026 Ce talent naturel alli\u00e9 \u00e0 un imaginaire foisonnant a produit un style et une th\u00e9matique particuliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#cb4444\"><strong>DU PAYSAGE IDEAL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attir\u00e9e par la peinture et les th\u00e9matiques picturales de la Renaissance, Dominique Irma Dalozo con\u00e7oit un art du paysage fortement influenc\u00e9 par l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9. Cette humaniste adopte ainsi un syst\u00e8me de repr\u00e9sentation du monde ayant la Nature visible et sensible pour mod\u00e8le, mais une Nature hors de port\u00e9e de l\u2019humain dans son ensemble, m\u00eame si cet \u00e9l\u00e9ment s\u2019y trouve int\u00e9gr\u00e9, cach\u00e9, dissimul\u00e9, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gal des v\u00e9g\u00e9taux et de l\u2019infinit\u00e9 des \u00eatres qui le peuplent. Comme les artistes de la p\u00e9riode, elle se livre \u00e0 un travail syst\u00e9matique visant \u00e0 d\u00e9finir rigoureusement une perspective lin\u00e9aire capable d&rsquo;organiser clairement l&rsquo;image. Ce travail, li\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;observation concr\u00e8te des d\u00e9tails de la Nature, va transformer progressivement la surface peinte en \u00ab&nbsp;fen\u00eatre ouverte&nbsp;\u00bb sur le monde, en un spectacle, en une sc\u00e8ne dans lesquels les acteurs vont prendre place. La sc\u00e9nographie ainsi g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e devient un lieu quasi paradisiaque. Comme le propose Pierre de Brach (Bordeaux, 1547&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;Montussan,&nbsp;1604), dans son <em>Voyage en Gascongne<\/em>, l\u2019\u0153uvre est \u00ab une large estendue d&rsquo;un paisage champestre o\u00f9 nostre oeil se d\u00e9\u00e7oit \u00bb. En d\u2019autres termes, comme le synth\u00e9tise cette d\u00e9finition du <em>Dictionnaire de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie<\/em>, il s\u2019agit alors \u00ab&nbsp;d\u2019une \u00e9tendue de pays que l&rsquo;on voit d&rsquo;un seul aspect \u00bb. Certes, le paysage de la Renaissance rend compte des donn\u00e9es de la perception visuelle, mais aussi de ses limites. D\u2019une part les paysages sont fleuris des r\u00e9miniscences de l\u2019art de la peinture italienne de la Renaissance, de l\u2019autre, les compositions r\u00e9v\u00e8lent des personnages se confondant avec les \u00e9l\u00e9ments naturels, denses, auxquels sont m\u00eal\u00e9s des vestiges arch\u00e9ologiques d\u2019\u00e9poque romaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#cb4444\"><strong><em>A LA CROISEE DES CHEMINS<\/em><\/strong><strong>,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un dessin portant au verso la date de 1991, <em>A la crois\u00e9e des chemins<\/em>, est, de prime abord, \u00e9tonnant autant par certains de ses \u00e9l\u00e9ments constitutifs que par sa composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La sc\u00e8ne intimiste montre deux jeunes personnes absorb\u00e9es en une discussion qui en est \u00e0 sa phase muette tant la fascination s\u2019est insinu\u00e9e dans les deux \u00eatres&nbsp;: l\u2019intensit\u00e9 des regards est \u00e9loquente&nbsp;: celui de la jeune fille est tourn\u00e9 vers le jeune homme assis en contrebas, tandis que ce dernier l\u00e8ve les yeux vers cette cr\u00e9ature par\u00e9e de guirlandes de fleurs, r\u00e9miniscence botticellienne de l\u2019\u0153uvre. Le silence, l\u2019attentisme, le myst\u00e8re, sont renforc\u00e9s par la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019une touffe de digitales d\u2019un rose soutenu, les fleurs ont envahi un vestige arch\u00e9ologique, probablement une base de structure portante \u2014 semblable \u00e0 celle sur laquelle est assis le jeune homme. Une huppe fasci\u00e9e y est perch\u00e9e, peu craintive. Ces deux \u00e9l\u00e9ments, fleurs et oiseau, suscitent une certaine curiosit\u00e9&nbsp;: la fleur est connue pour sa toxicit\u00e9 autant que par son nom populaire de \u00ab&nbsp;fleur des f\u00e9es&nbsp;\u00bb, ces derni\u00e8res se parant de ses clochettes profondes&nbsp;; quant \u00e0 l\u2019oiseau, souvent repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 sur les papyrus \u00e9gyptiens, il est associ\u00e9 au sentiment amoureux. Ce symbolisme latent associ\u00e9 \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence du couple absorb\u00e9 dans un \u00e9change intense est rendu encore plus \u00e9trange par les vestiges oubli\u00e9s formant des taches claires parmi la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation qui les recouvre progressivement. Dernier \u00e9l\u00e9ment source de curiosit\u00e9, les deux portes en arc qui ouvrent, pour le plus lointain, la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019un panorama entre mer et montagne, tandis que le plus proche annonce une for\u00eat drue o\u00f9 le trac\u00e9 du chemin dispara\u00eet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette sc\u00e8ne est un \u00e9pisode d\u2019une histoire myst\u00e9rieuse impossible \u00e0 \u00e9lucider en raison de la th\u00e9\u00e2tralit\u00e9 avec laquelle le sujet est camp\u00e9.&nbsp; L\u2019artiste indique de cette mani\u00e8re que l\u2019on est \u00e0 la crois\u00e9e des chemins, donc proche d\u2019un d\u00e9nouement&nbsp;! Il n\u2019en reste pas moins que les deux personnages sont dans un dialogue mystique entre humain et divin\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images Les \u00eatres qui peuplent de fa\u00e7on directe ou indirecte les dessins polychromes et les peintures sur panneau de Dominique Irma Dalozo, appartiennent \u00e0 ces deux cat\u00e9gories distinctes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les personnages sont souvent des anges, des enfants ou des adolescents dont les traits renvoient \u00e0 la douceur des \u0153uvres de Botticelli ou des Pr\u00e9rapha\u00e9lites anglais. Outre ces deux cat\u00e9gories, un exemple des plus repr\u00e9sentatifs est celui donn\u00e9 par l\u2019\u0153uvre de Francesco Colonna, <em>Le songe de Poliphile<\/em> [<em>Hypnerotomachia Poliphilii<\/em>], imprim\u00e9 en 1499 \u00e0 Venise sur les presses d\u2019Alde Manuce, version francis\u00e9e de son nom original, Aldo Manuzio en italien. Selon les \u00e9ditions, un corpus de quelque 171 gravures sur bois accompagnent le volume. Leur attribution varie en fonction des \u00e9ditions qui se sont succ\u00e9d\u00e9 de cette fin de 15<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle au 19<sup>e<\/sup>. Ce r\u00e9cit \u00e9sot\u00e9rique m\u00eale architecture, mythologies, art du jardin et des sciences, un r\u00e9cit sorti de l\u2019imagination de Francesco Colonna&nbsp;(1433-1527), un fr\u00e8re dominicain du couvent de San Giovanni e Paolo, qui d\u00e9fraya la chronique des m\u0153urs du temps. Sa culture refl\u00e8te un int\u00e9r\u00eat nourri pour les civilisations antiques alors \u00e9tudi\u00e9es par les clercs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dominique Irma Dalozo a un imaginaire qui s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 ces paysages imaginaires denses retrouv\u00e9s au fil des oeuvres d\u2019Hercules Seghers \u00e0 Bresdin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Une autre veine capte autant son inspiration f\u00e9conde, elle a g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 la production de dessins tr\u00e8s contrast\u00e9s qui font p\u00e9n\u00e9trer dans un monde r\u00e9v\u00e9lateur d\u2019un autre aspect d\u2019un fantastique plus inqui\u00e9tant, plus noir. C\u2019est, en partie, pourquoi l\u2019artiste utilise une encre noire qui contraste sur les rehauts de blanc donnant vie \u00e0 des \u00eatres \u00e9tranges au corps mince, au visage h\u00e2ve et aux formes complexes, baroques, surcharg\u00e9es de d\u00e9tails morphologiques inqui\u00e9tants, disproportionn\u00e9s.
