Avec son attention \u00e0 la Chine du quotidien, Fran\u00e7ois Dautresme a montr\u00e9 qu\u2019un objet populaire peut \u00eatre beau quel que soit le mat\u00e9riau dans lequel il a \u00e9t\u00e9 fabriqu\u00e9. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">par Alain Cardenas-Castro <\/span><span class=\"s2\">[1]<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> <b>R\u00e9sum\u00e9 des \u00e9pisodes de cette histoire \u00e0 travers une galerie des portraits de ceux qui ont permis \u00e0 ces pi\u00e8ces d\u2019\u00eatre conserv\u00e9es jusqu\u2019en cette ann\u00e9e 2021. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b> Ces pi\u00e8ces, Edwige Pluchard en a fig\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence avec une s\u00e9rie d\u2019\u0153uvres r\u00e9alis\u00e9es r\u00e9cemment.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>\u25cf Chronique d\u2019une r\u00e9surrection annonc\u00e9e<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Fran\u00e7ois Dautresme<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Comme l\u2019a soulign\u00e9 Marie Laureillard dans un article r\u00e9cent, \u00ab\u00a0Fran\u00e7ois Dautresme (1925-2002) <\/span><span class=\"s3\">(ill.1) <\/span><span class=\"s4\">a tr\u00e8s probablement <\/span><span class=\"s1\">h\u00e9rit\u00e9 de son oncle Jacques Dautresme, capitaine au long cours, sa passion pour la Chine, o\u00f9 il entreprend d\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1960 \u2014 en 1963 \u2014 de collecter des milliers d\u2019objets r\u00e9v\u00e9lant l\u2019ing\u00e9niosit\u00e9 cr\u00e9ative du peuple chinois. Fondateur de la Compagnie fran\u00e7aise de l\u2019Orient et de la Chine, en<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>homme d\u2019affaires avis\u00e9, \u00e0 la fois ethnologue et designer, il constitue au fil des ans une collection d\u2019une dizaine de milliers d\u2019objets fabriqu\u00e9s dans les mat\u00e9riaux les plus vari\u00e9s, allant des fibres textiles \u00e0 la c\u00e9ramique, au bois et au m\u00e9tal (\u2026).\u00a0D\u00e8s son enfance, il est passionn\u00e9 par les objets et la nature\u00a0\u00bb, rappelle sa cousine Fran\u00e7oise. \u00ab\u00a0Leur beaut\u00e9 secr\u00e8te l\u2019int\u00e9resse plus que l\u2019abstraction et les livres. Or, les objets s\u2019\u00e9changent. Il deviendra donc collectionneur et marchand, comme on l\u2019\u00e9tait \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque des Routes de la soie. Mais les affaires restent l\u2019instrument de sa passion, jamais sa vie.\u00a0\u00bb Sensible \u00e0 leur perfection technique, il tente de conf\u00e9rer une certaine coh\u00e9rence \u00e0 sa collection afin de mieux illustrer ce qu\u2019il appelle \u00ab\u00a0le syst\u00e8me chinois\u00a0\u00bb, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire un r\u00e9seau homog\u00e8ne d\u2019objets usuels combinant les lois naturelles au g\u00e9nie humain. M\u00fb par une curiosit\u00e9 insatiable, il recueille durant pr\u00e8s de quarante ans ce patrimoine anonyme qu\u2019il craignait de voir dispara\u00eetre en parcourant inlassablement les campagnes, de la Mongolie int\u00e9rieure aux r\u00e9gions m\u00e9ridionales, consignant soigneusement dans des cahiers qui forment un journal de bord unique la moindre acquisition ainsi que les contacts pris en amont. \u00ab\u00a0J\u2019aime me perdre. J\u2019aime marcher. J\u2019aime aller voir. J\u2019aime entrer chez les gens. Ces m\u00eames casiers ont \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9s dans l\u2019entrep\u00f4t de Saint-Denis comme, \u00e9galement,\u00a0 lors de la vente Piasa.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Fran\u00e7oise Dautresme<\/b> <b>\/ <\/b><\/span><span class=\"s5\"><b>Christophe Comentale<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">Designer, femme de lettres, Fran\u00e7oise Dautresme fait partie de l\u2019aventure esth\u00e9tique et commerciale que son cousin l\u2019entra\u00eene \u00e0 poursuivre en allant le seconder dans l\u2019entreprise qu\u2019il a fond\u00e9e. Elle le suit en Chine, en Iran. Fran\u00e7oise Dautresme dans l\u2019entrep\u00f4t de Saint Denis (ca 2016).<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">Depuis la disparition de Fran\u00e7ois Dautresme survenue au Br\u00e9sil en 2002, elle veille depuis lors sur la collection qui changera plusieurs fois de place avant d\u2019\u00eatre h\u00e9berg\u00e9e dans un spacieux entrep\u00f4t de Saint-Denis <\/span><span class=\"s3\">(ill.2)<\/span><span class=\"s1\">. Cette vaste r\u00e9serve de 500 m<sup>2<\/sup> devient le lieu de conservation de pr\u00e8s de dix mille pi\u00e8ces pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es avec une logique mus\u00e9ale proc\u00e9dant par grands th\u00e8mes sans pour autant perdre de vue l\u2019aspect spectaculaire des objets <\/span><span class=\"s3\">(ill.4)<\/span><span class=\"s1\">. Devant l\u2019ampleur de la t\u00e2che, une t\u00e2che qui s\u2019av\u00e8re \u00e9puisante pour veiller \u00e0 la m\u00e9moire de l\u2019id\u00e9al et de l\u2019esth\u00e9tique insuffl\u00e9s par son fondateur, force est de se r\u00e9soudre \u00e0 trancher dans le vif pour garder un ensemble de pi\u00e8ces fondamentales quitte \u00e0 en \u00e9liminer d\u2019autres lors d\u2019une vente publique. Ce qui se passe le 10 octobre 2017 avec la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Piasa. Moment important au cours duquel pr\u00e8s de 7000 pi\u00e8ces r\u00e9parties en lots surprenants trouvent preneur. Parmi ceux-ci, de nombreux connaisseurs chinois, d\u00e9j\u00e0 conscients de la valeur unique de cette dispersion qui aurait pu d\u2019embl\u00e9e rejoindre de pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes donations faites tr\u00e8s progressivement par Fran\u00e7oise Dautresme en lien avec Christophe Comentale<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> (ill.4)<\/span><span class=\"s1\">, conservateur en chef au Mus\u00e9um national d&rsquo;Histoire naturelle et charg\u00e9 de mission pour la Chine. Ce dernier, a, durant une carri\u00e8re d\u2019une vingtaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es dans cette institution, \u00e9t\u00e9 recrut\u00e9 par l\u2019ancien directeur du Mus\u00e9um, le professeur Henry de Lumley, afin de<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>mettre sur pied une coop\u00e9ration franco-chinoise pour, ainsi, retrouver un \u00e9quilibre avec un grand nombre de projets et d\u2019actions de recherches ouverts sur d\u2019autres continents. Ces actions ont permis de faire converger des tr\u00e9sors africains et oc\u00e9aniens accumul\u00e9s en fonction d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements historiques favorables \u00e0 une qu\u00eate unique. Afin de pallier cette absence de pi\u00e8ces asiatiques au Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Homme, il effectue diff\u00e9rentes missions en Chine et, en phase avec les directeurs de mus\u00e9es (Shandong, Guizhou, Yunnan,\u2026) de ce pays, peut constituer des fonds sp\u00e9cifiques. C\u2019est dans ce contexte que l\u2019institution, alors en restructuration, renonce \u00e0 constituer un fonds chinois sp\u00e9cifique de plusieurs milliers de pi\u00e8ces. Seules, deux donations de pi\u00e8ces faites, sur ses conseils, au Mus\u00e9um, par Fran\u00e7oise Dautresme sont accept\u00e9es. Une premi\u00e8re va au d\u00e9partement d\u2019ethnologie et une autre rejoint les fonds de la biblioth\u00e8que Yvonne Oddon sise au Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Homme. Aucun accueil n\u2019est possible pour ces quelque deux mille pi\u00e8ces qui sont encore la collection de Fran\u00e7oise Dautresme et de sa fille Ma Li. Cette derni\u00e8re, fondatrice depuis peu d\u2019un lieu culturel, La Maison, sis \u00e0 Paris, conserve encore des pi\u00e8ces embl\u00e9matiques de cette collection. ChC)<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">Certes, rencontr\u00e9 ici et l\u00e0, Fran\u00e7ois Dautresme a bien propos\u00e9 \u00e0 ce sinisant et historien de l\u2019art de monter un projet commun\u00a0: les parcours de l\u2019un et de l\u2019autre n\u2019auront pas permis cela. Il n\u2019emp\u00eache que c\u2019est \u00e0 Saint-Denis que Christophe Comentale reprend contact avec Fran\u00e7oise Dautresme. De cet int\u00e9r\u00eat profond et commun pour la Chine, une certaine Chine, celle qui permet d\u2019admirer autant des pi\u00e8ces arch\u00e9ologiques de haute \u00e9poque que des t\u00e9moignages de l\u2019inventivit\u00e9 de ce pays pour les objets qui peuplent la campagne et les villes durant cette deuxi\u00e8me moiti\u00e9 du 20<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle. Ainsi va na\u00eetre le projet de mus\u00e9e chinois du quotidien. Un colloque relatif aux liens Est-Ouest se tient aussi en ces lieux. Les actes du colloque sont consultables sur le blog Sciences et art contemporain en date du 31 octobre 2020 (2).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">Le succ\u00e8s rencontr\u00e9 par ces manifestations montre l\u2019absence \u00e9vidente<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>de ce type de lieu sur la sc\u00e8ne culturelle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">La p\u00e9riode autarcique g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par la r\u00e9currence de probl\u00e8mes sanitaires depuis deux ann\u00e9es a eu raison de cette structure associative que la partie chinoise soutenait de fa\u00e7on rationnelle, permettant par ailleurs, de montrer de l\u2019art fran\u00e7ais, voire europ\u00e9en en Chine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">Il en va des hommes comme du climat, les changements sont inattendus, brusques et sans appel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Epilogue<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">Ainsi, \u00e0 la partie des fonds donn\u00e9s par Fran\u00e7oise Dautresme au Mus\u00e9um, ensuite confi\u00e9e par cette institution au mus\u00e9e des Confluences de Lyon, s\u2019est ajout\u00e9 un fonds de plusieurs centaines de pi\u00e8ces acquises par un particulier lors de la vente Piasa. Afin d\u2019assurer une permanence \u00e0 une partie des pi\u00e8ces encore au mus\u00e9e chinois du quotidien [appellation donn\u00e9e par Fran\u00e7ois Dautresme lorsqu\u2019il a constitu\u00e9 ses collections], une proposition de don a \u00e9t\u00e9 faite \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tablissement lyonnais par l\u2019\u00e9quipe gestionnaire des fonds encore \u00e0 Lod\u00e8ve et responsable au sens juridique\u2026 Une fois la s\u00e9lection accept\u00e9e partiellement ou dans sa globalit\u00e9 par le mus\u00e9e des Confluences,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>ces pi\u00e8ces deviendront patrimoine au sens juridique, et, de l\u2019autre, donnera \u00e0 ce mus\u00e9e un rang unique pour la possession d\u2019un des fonds les plus nourris dans le domaine de la Chine agricole et rurale d\u2019un 20<sup>e<\/sup> s. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">Il est \u00e0 noter que la collection initialement constitu\u00e9e par Fran\u00e7ois Dautresme n\u2019\u00e9tait pas constitu\u00e9e seulement de pi\u00e8ces agricoles ou <i>rurales<\/i>, mais riche de centaines de pi\u00e8ces arch\u00e9ologiques particuli\u00e8rement rares, notamment pour les c\u00e9ramiques n\u00e9olithiques de grands sites, pour les pierres dures, jade, agate, les pi\u00e8ces de lettr\u00e9, en particulier les pi\u00e8ces en pierre, bois, m\u00e9taux aux formes \u00e9tranges\u2026 Devant l\u2019absence d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat des institutions pour ces pi\u00e8ces d\u2019excellence, \u2014 ce qu\u2019elle a parfaitement compris en raison des priorit\u00e9s que doivent choisir des d\u00e9cideurs de ces lieux, elle a pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 donner \u00e0 ces absents des classification occidentales une destination autre, celle constitu\u00e9e par les collections priv\u00e9es qui sont souvent des partenaires de premier plan lors de la mise en place d\u2019expositions coordonn\u00e9es par des institutions publiques, gardiennes des lieux mis \u00e0 disposition pour ce type de diffusion des connaissances.
