D\u2019autre part, mes recherches approfondies sur les trait\u00e9s de calligraphie et de peinture chinoises m\u2019ont confirm\u00e9 une double tradition qui permet de fusionner th\u00e9orie et pratique.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis des ann\u00e9es, mes enseignements de la calligraphie et de l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Paris Diderot et \u00e0 l\u2019Institut Catholique de Paris, mes communications dans de nombreux colloques, et encore mes exp\u00e9riences du commissariat de diverses expositions de l\u2019art de l\u2019\u00e9criture aux cr\u00e9ations contemporaines m\u2019ont aussi permis de dynamiser mes r\u00e9flexions sur le geste graphique et ses origines.<\/p>\n<p>En fait, durant ces 40 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, les d\u00e9couvertes arch\u00e9ologiques des signes et des symboles sur des poteries et sur les jades notamment du 5e au 3e mill\u00e9naire ont compl\u00e8tement renouvel\u00e9 nos perspectives de recherches sur les origines de l\u2019\u00e9criture chinoise. Par exemple lors des fouilles effectu\u00e9es dans les sites culturels de Dawenkou au Shandong et de Lingjiatan \u00e0 l\u2019Anhui sur le fleuve Jaune comme sur le fleuve Yangzi, que vous retrouvez sur votre carte arch\u00e9ologique. Les arch\u00e9ologues et les pal\u00e9ographes chinois comme Tang Lan, Li Xueqin etc., ont beaucoup discut\u00e9 sur ces d\u00e9couvertes, tandis que ces discussions sont relativement n\u00e9glig\u00e9es en Occident ; j\u2019ai donc ressenti une n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 assez urgente de r\u00e9aliser cette th\u00e8se.<\/p>\n<p>La gen\u00e8se d\u2019une \u00e9criture r\u00e9sulte d\u2019une s\u00e9rie d\u2019\u00e9clats dans une civilisation. La p\u00e9riode qui s\u2019\u00e9tend du N\u00e9olithique \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque de l\u2019invention du syst\u00e8me graphique est un Grand Temps o\u00f9 l\u2019homme \u00e9laborait les mythes de cr\u00e9ation, les premi\u00e8res sp\u00e9culations cosmiques, ainsi que les images et les symboles qui transcrivent cet \u00e9veil de la <em>cosmicit\u00e9<\/em>. Le geste graphique et le processus culturel \u00e9tant progressivement sacralis\u00e9s, leurs syst\u00e8mes de transmission, de la Pr\u00e9histoire \u00e0 l\u2019Histoire, ont connu une puissante <em>historisation<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Cette th\u00e8se, intitul\u00e9e <em>Arch\u00e9ologie du geste graphique<\/em>, est aussi une tentative de d\u00e9shistoriser des images, symboles et gestes graphiques. Positionn\u00e9e dans la discipline de l\u2019anthropologie culturelle, mais en croisant des perspectives arch\u00e9ologiques, s\u00e9miologiques et esth\u00e9tiques, cette recherche porte notamment sur la gen\u00e8se, l\u2019\u00e9volution et la normalisation du syst\u00e8me picto-id\u00e9ographique en Chine du N\u00e9olithique \u00e0 la dynastie des Tang (618-907) o\u00f9 les normes graphiques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tablies et sont utilis\u00e9es jusqu\u2019\u00e0 nos jours. Cela permet de d\u00e9voiler la force cr\u00e9atrice contenue d\u00e8s la gen\u00e8se de l\u2019\u00e9criture chinoise et qui a surv\u00e9cu aux diff\u00e9rentes vagues de normalisation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pour la tradition grecque, tracer, graver, peindre, \u00e9crire, d\u00e9crire se disent d\u2019un m\u00eame mot : <em>graphein (<\/em><em>\u03b3\u03c1\u03ac\u03c6\u03c9<\/em><em>)<\/em>. Qu\u2019en est-il dans la tradition chinoise ?<\/p>\n<p>Dans le premier dictionnaire \u00e9tymologique de l\u2019\u00e9criture chinoise <em>Shuowen jiezi <\/em>\u8aaa\u6587\u89e3\u5b57 du d\u00e9but du IIe si\u00e8cle, <em>wen <\/em>\u6587 est d\u00e9fini comme des lignes entrecrois\u00e9es et comme l\u2019\u00e9criture pictographique ; l\u2019enqu\u00eate \u00e9tymologique moderne de ce caract\u00e8re le d\u00e9finit comme le tatouage rituel ou comme des vertus accomplies. Mais si l\u2019on remonte \u00e0 l\u2019origine, cette graphie est en effet l\u2019image de l\u2019homme, en particulier parmi les animaux mythiques. Il n\u2019est pas \u00e9tonnant que les terres cuites soient vite devenues l\u2019espace du geste graphique : la peinture, l\u2019imprim\u00e9 ou l\u2019incision, qui produisent des graphies sur des poteries que l\u2019on consid\u00e8re comme simples \u00ab ornementations \u00bb, n\u2019apparaissent pas tous en m\u00eame temps. En cherchant \u00e0 \u00e9conomiser sa force physique dans la production, l\u2019homme a conquis l\u2019espace graphique pour cr\u00e9er des images.<\/p>\n<p>Dans l\u2019image peinte sur la c\u00e9ramique n\u00e9olithique, nous pouvons souvent distinguer un certain nombre de motifs propres \u00e0 une culture d\u00e9termin\u00e9e, ces motifs portent \u00e9galement certaines significations pr\u00e9cises. Au fil d\u2019une longue \u00e9volution morphologique, un motif concis et \u00e9labor\u00e9 se forme, il deviendra une norme visuelle \u00e0 laquelle adh\u00e8rent les membres d\u2019une m\u00eame tribu pendant une certaine p\u00e9riode.<\/p>\n<p>La culture de Yangshao (5000-3000 av. J.-C.) couvre un tr\u00e8s vaste territoire sur le fleuve Jaune. Ses deux motifs principaux, celui du poisson et celui de l\u2019oiseau pr\u00e9sentent des s\u00e9ries compl\u00e8tes d\u2019\u00e9volution morphologique. Le motif de l\u2019oiseau de la phase de Miaodigou (ca. 4000-3300 av. J.-C.), h\u00e9riti\u00e8re de la culture de Yangshao, les motifs du poisson et de l\u2019oiseau se m\u00e9tamorphosent mutuellement par la d\u00e9formation de leurs corps dans la rotation dynamique. Les formes g\u00e9om\u00e9triques compos\u00e9es \u00e9volueront finalement en spirale, et deviennent un symbole universel de la cosmicit\u00e9. C\u2019est une d\u00e9rivation de la pens\u00e9e graphique par la surprise de l\u2019imagination collective.<\/p>\n<p>La routine formelle de la tradition florissante a irr\u00e9versiblement fait d\u00e9p\u00e9rir les significations mythologiques et les perceptions cosmiques que connotaient les signes pictographiques. Amen\u00e9 par le remplissage dans le centre de la spirale, arrive le d\u00e9clin de la puissance de l\u2019image. Du d\u00e9cor cord\u00e9 au remplissage g\u00e9om\u00e9trique, nous voyons s\u2019achever un grand cycle de cr\u00e9ation des images et des symboles, qui reste n\u00e9anmoins une grande tentative de la gen\u00e8se de la pens\u00e9e pictographique.
