Ce long projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 initi\u00e9 par l\u2019artiste en 2009, avec l\u2019\u00e9tude approfondie d\u2019un rouleau peint, dat\u00e9 de la fin de la dynastie des Ming, <em>Vue de la f\u00eate des lanternes multicolores<\/em>. L\u2019auteur demeure \u00e0 ce jour inconnu. On peut y voir d\u00e9ambuler marchands, mendiants, nonnes et moines, conteurs, ainsi que toute une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de personnages \u00e9voluant dans l\u2019espace public. L\u2019artiste initie sa recherche par le biais d \u2019une r\u00e9-interpr\u00e9tation de la sc\u00e8ne, qu\u2019il agr\u00e9mente d\u2019annotations vari\u00e9es. Il en extrait la grille de composition et les \u00e9l\u00e9ments principaux pour les agencer selon sa propre compr\u00e9hension, tout en y pla\u00e7ant des formes nouvelles.<\/p>\n<p><a cm<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dans l\u2019action de peindre sa propre version du rouleau, l\u2019artiste met en place une m\u00e9thode d\u2019annotation fluide qui participe de son analyse de l\u2019objet initial et lui permet simultan\u00e9ment d\u2019en d\u00e9velopper une interpr\u00e9tation divergente. Chaque figure se voit associ\u00e9e une gravure qui combine \u00e0 la fois un texte et une illustration de sa forme finale, avant la r\u00e9alisation en volume. Ces portraits illustr\u00e9s constituent la seconde phase de la recherche picturale mentionn\u00e9e ci-dessus : ils isolent les \u00e9l\u00e9ments cl\u00e9s de ce que Qiu Zhijie d\u00e9crit comme un code g\u00e9n\u00e9tique de l\u2019\u00e9volution humaine, un concept extrait de <em>l\u2019Arch\u00e9ologie du Savoir <\/em>de Foucault dont il s\u2019empare pour d\u00e9velopper sa Lors du troisi\u00e8me acte, un \u00ab pengci \u00bb enclenche le d\u00e9bat sur la question du vrai ou du faux, de ce qui est pr\u00e9cieux ou non, la question de la raret\u00e9. La brocante est le lieu d\u2019une confrontation entre la valeur du souvenir individuel et celle de la m\u00e9moire commune : comment vendre l\u2019objet au prix auquel on l\u2019estime ?<\/p>\n<p>Une fois le produit mis sur le march\u00e9, il prend valeur d\u2019antiquit\u00e9. Les m\u00e9moires des objets deviennent alors fant\u00f4mes. Ils d\u00e9ambulent au sein des \u00e9tals et ne peuvent plus reposer dans l\u2019objet lui-m\u00eame. Ils hantent alors les miroirs, et attendent l\u2019instant o\u00f9 la nuit est la plus noire pour aller \u00e0 nouveau errer dans la brocante. Enfin, apr\u00e8s un cycle de vente aux ench\u00e8res o\u00f9 l\u2019acheteur est d\u2019avantage d\u00e9sign\u00e9 par le destin que vainqueur d\u2019une lutte, les miroirs partent en qu\u00eate de celui qui sera leur prochain ma\u00eetre. \u00bb<em><a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>L\u2019introduction d\u2019un march\u00e9 dans l\u2019espace d\u2019exposition est \u00e0 la fois une mani\u00e8re de donner sc\u00e8ne \u00e0 cette performance, mais se rattache aussi au positionnement de l\u2019artiste quant \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00e9ritage am\u00e9ricain du White Cube, \u00e0 la mise en place d\u2019alternatives quant \u00e0 la monstration des oeuvres. Lors de son discours d\u2019introduction \u00e0 l\u2019exposition, Qiu Zhijie d\u00e9clare :<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00ab Peu importe la nature de l\u2019objet que l\u2019on place entre quatre murs blancs, une fois mis en lumi\u00e8re, nous avons la sensation qu\u2019il nous est impos\u00e9 de le consid\u00e9rer avec s\u00e9rieux. En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, le public subit le syst\u00e8me d\u2019exposition mis en place par l\u2019autorit\u00e9 du mus\u00e9e, au point qu\u2019avant m\u00eame d\u2019\u00eatre rentr\u00e9 dans l\u2019oeuvre, il est intimid\u00e9 par elle. L\u2019effet est le m\u00eame que celui des habits neufs de l\u2019empereur<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\"><em>[3]<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Le syst\u00e8me d\u2019exposition propos\u00e9 au mus\u00e9e de Minsheng nous enl\u00e8ve la possibilit\u00e9 de contempler paisiblement l\u2019oeuvre, sans que notre regard soit sollicit\u00e9 par d\u2019autres objets. Ils deviennent des arri\u00e8re-plans les uns pour les autres, ils sont perm\u00e9ables entre eux. Ici, on a le sentiment de se trouver dans une foire de temple<em><a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a><\/em>, dans un march\u00e9 d\u2019un d\u00e9sordre inou\u00ef. L\u2019usage de fragments d\u2019outils, de machines agricoles ou d\u2019antiquit\u00e9s dans les installations du premier \u00e9tage raisonne avec l\u2019id\u00e9e que l\u2019exp\u00e9rience esth\u00e9tique s\u2019\u00e9tend au del\u00e0 de ce que l\u2019on cherche \u00e0 identifier comme faisant oeuvre. La d\u00e9-construction de celle-ci comme corps unifi\u00e9 permet \u00e0 l\u2019artiste d\u2019aborder chaque pi\u00e8ce comme la composante d\u2019un syst\u00e8me de combinaison, au sein duquel les multiples point de vue sont autant d\u2019agglom\u00e9rats d\u2019objets composant plusieurs perspectives sur l\u2019histoire. Le refus de l\u2019artiste de se positionner comme auteur souligne cette volont\u00e9 de questionner la temporalit\u00e9 de l\u2019homme comme des choses.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0 \u00ab J\u2019aimerais ajouter que l\u2019exposition \u00e0 laquelle vous assistez n\u2019est pas une exposition personnelle. L\u2019art total tel qu\u2019il l\u2019entend ne rel\u00e8ve pas uniquement de la multiplicit\u00e9 des techniques engag\u00e9es dans l\u2019acte artistique ni de la volont\u00e9 de nous offrir un syst\u00e8me de re-lecture de l\u2019Histoire : il est le fruit d\u2019un engagement complet, d\u2019une curiosit\u00e9 d\u00e9vorante qui pousse l\u2019artiste \u00e0 s\u2019investir dans un nombre incalculable d\u2019activit\u00e9s, avec une fluidit\u00e9 d\u00e9concertante.
