J\u00f6rg Gessner<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quelques \u00e9l\u00e9ments biographiques<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>N\u00e9 en 1967 \u00e0 R\u00fcdesheim en Allemagne, J\u00f6rg Gessner devient apprenti tailleur avant de s\u2019installer en 1990 \u00e0 Paris o\u00f9 il suit des \u00e9tudes de stylisme et de mod\u00e9lisme de mode au studio Ber\u00e7ot. Il se sp\u00e9cialise dans le design textile lors d\u2019un s\u00e9jour d\u2019une ann\u00e9e \u00e0 Milan en 1992, lieu o\u00f9 commence son v\u00e9ritable parcours professionnel alliant forme, mati\u00e8re et lumi\u00e8re. Ainsi, apr\u00e8s un riche parcours dans le design textile et le design d\u2019objets qui l\u2019a notamment conduit \u00e0 travailler avec les maisons Guerlain et Herm\u00e8s, J\u00f6rg Gessner se consacre d\u00e9sormais exclusivement au papier. Chez Eliane Fi\u00e9vet (2018).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>De 2012 \u00e0 2014, \u00e0 la maison de Rembrandt d\u2019Amsterdam, et en liaison avec l\u2019universit\u00e9 d\u2019Amsterdam, J\u00f6rg Gessner a entrepris des recherches sur les origines des papiers japonais utilis\u00e9s par Rembrandt pour les gravures de la collection de la maison de Rembrandt (Rembrandthuis), en collaboration avec Leonore van Sloten, conservatrice au mus\u00e9e-maison de Rembrandt, Bas van Velzen, senior tutor book and paper conservation de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 d\u2019Amsterdam (UvA) et des papetiers et scientifiques japonais. Nous ouvrons les yeux. Les nuages voyagent, nous le faisons aussi. Puis, la pluie retombe, comme nous tombons tous. Les gouttes s\u2019assemblent, coulent ensemble, deviennent ruisseau, cascade, rivi\u00e8re, se retrouvent en oc\u00e9an et finissent en brume. Qui monte. Et devient nuage. Son propos, immerg\u00e9 dans une patience qui le pousse \u00e0 aller vers la qualit\u00e9 de papier qui prend l\u2019id\u00e9e, s\u2019en empare et la mat\u00e9rialise \u2013 il devient alors ins\u00e9parable de la feuille qui a concentr\u00e9 son propos \u2013 reprenant en cela une approche tao\u00efsante qui est l\u2019id\u00e9e fixe, n\u00e9cessaire et inexorable des propos de Laozi ou de ces <em>disciples<\/em>. Ce n\u2019est pas pour autant que les \u0153uvres de J\u00f6rg Gessner sont teint\u00e9es d\u2019un exotisme oriental\u00a0: ses \u0153uvres sont le reflet d\u2019une pr\u00e9occupation, d\u2019une esth\u00e9tique personnelle qui sait conjuguer des pr\u00e9occupations de cr\u00e9ateur de notre \u00e9poque, sachant jouer de l\u2019installation qu\u2019en l\u2019occurrence les \u0153uvres refl\u00e8tent selon leur positionnement dans les lieux\u00a0: \u0153uvres accroch\u00e9es, pos\u00e9es, face \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re du jour, de biais, subissant, pos\u00e9es dans une partie creuse qui fait davantage ressortir les parties blanches sur des zones de gris plus laiteuses, assumant des variantes propres aux nuances de l\u2019encre dans des oeuvres calligraphiques. Les \u0153uvres livrent une pr\u00e9sence de l\u2019eau qui se r\u00e9v\u00e8le au fil du regard pos\u00e9 sur chacune en tenant compte de chaque angle de vue, qui r\u00e9v\u00e8le telle chute d\u2019eau ou une destruction de cet \u00e9l\u00e9ment aqueux devenu \u00e9clat et en plein devenir d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments brumeux perdus dans un espace fera rena\u00eetre un \u00e9tat autres. Cela me renvoie \u00e0 certains tableaux de Levy-Dhurmer qui, s\u2019ils portent cette lourdeur ornementale fin de si\u00e8cle \u2013 le XIXe \u2013 montrent une semblable pr\u00e9occupation de ce peintre pour les rendus de ce que peut \u00eatre l\u2019eau lorsqu\u2019elle change d\u2019\u00e9tat, n\u2019existant plus que par cette irradiance de particules sommaires. non-couleur et lumi\u00e8re irradiante, doit, pour pouvoir se mat\u00e9rialiser, \u00eatre, avoir accroch\u00e9 \u2013 un peu comme ces ions que Lucr\u00e8ce prend comme des capteurs de ce r\u00e9el tangible \u2013 aussi le perceptible. Si, au premier regard, un jeu est perceptible face \u00e0 ces cama\u00efeux, le parcours tout intellectuel qui continue, aboutit \u00e0 une d\u00e9lectation qui est <em>sur<\/em> et <em>dans<\/em> cette feuille fluide. A J\u00f6rge Gessner la citation de la fin de cette \u00e9vocation de son oeuvre\u00a0:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00ab\u00a0la lumi\u00e8re est esprit, lin\u00e9aire, l\u2019eau est corps, fluide. La lumi\u00e8re vaporise l\u2019eau, l\u2019eau brouille la lumi\u00e8re. L\u2019eau et la lumi\u00e8re, une mati\u00e8re, une \u00e9nergie, toutes deux engendrent la vie.
