Autodidacte, il s\u2019int\u00e9resse d\u2019abord \u00e0 la c\u00e9ramique, puis, se consacre \u00e0 la sculpture, travaillant notamment l&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Acier_corten\">acier Corten<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Cet acier <em>auto-patin\u00e9 \u00e0 corrosion superficielle forc\u00e9e est utilis\u00e9 pour son aspect et sa r\u00e9sistance aux conditions atmosph\u00e9riques, dans l\u2019architecture, la construction et l\u2019art principalement en sculpture d\u2019ext\u00e9rieur. Aucune contradiction ne justifie a priori le positionnement pour l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur ou l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur d\u2019un lieu, d\u2019un espace. Les pi\u00e8ces sont la synth\u00e8se de questionnements, de m\u00e9ditations int\u00e9rieures qui s\u2019ach\u00e8vent par la domination souple d\u2019une mati\u00e8re devenue ductile, flexible, calme, intemporelle, en d\u00e9pit de son caract\u00e8re monolithique. Les sculptures red\u00e9finissent le lieu qui les accueille et au sein duquel elles vont se m\u00e9tamorphoser en pi\u00e8ce propitiatoire.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1612\" style=\"width: 235px\" la pr\u00e9sence de pi\u00e8ces qui apportent leur chaleur dans l\u2019espace domestique, Etienne Viard est aussi un dessinateur, ce que r\u00e9v\u00e8lent ses dessins, comme aussi des d\u00e9coupages, des maquettes en pr\u00e9alable \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153uvre. L\u2019acier en barre ou en feuilles \u00e9paisses est d\u00e9coup\u00e9 puis model\u00e9, puis pli\u00e9 \u00e0 froid. Les lignes verticales dominent, fortes et souples, \u00e9voquant le v\u00e9g\u00e9tal, des roseaux surgis de p\u00e9riodes g\u00e9ologiques disparues ou des plantes de mar\u00e9cages \u00e9vocatrices de disparit\u00e9s entre terre et eau. Elles laissent s\u2019insinuer la lumi\u00e8re qui rythme et souligne les volumes, ouvrant l\u2019espace vers l\u2019horizontale.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Les sculptures d\u2019Etienne Viard sont ligne\u00a0: ligne fragment\u00e9e,\u00a0 \u00e9tir\u00e9e, courbe, allong\u00e9e ou droite reposant sur un \u00e9quilibre fragile.
