L\u2019ossature des noirs, denses puis plus l\u00e9gers, se trouve oppos\u00e9e \u00e0 des blancs structurants. Elle fait ainsi entrer des \u00e9l\u00e9ments chromatiques de couleurs majoritaires. Elles fr\u00f4lent le monochrome sans jamais l\u2019atteindre. Ces t\u00e9moignages de traces et de langages disparus sont autant d\u2019excavations laiss\u00e9es par une arch\u00e9ologie de l\u2019imaginaire\u00a0: un collage int\u00e9gr\u00e9, un monotype retravaill\u00e9. Ces pr\u00e9sences d\u2019ossatures fortes valent autant pour la gravure, le dessin, la peinture au pigment sans enlever quoi que ce soit \u00e0 la sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9 de chaque technique. Evoquer la polychromie n\u2019est pas forc\u00e9ment se noyer dans l\u2019exc\u00e8s d\u2019une couleur qui capte toute l\u2019\u00e9nergie par sa force, sa vigueur. Au contraire, parmi les compositions choisies, une s\u00e9lection d\u2019\u0153uvres \u00e0 fond rose, parfois seul, le plus souvent rehauss\u00e9 par un ton plus brun m\u00eal\u00e9 de rouge. Les formats, quelques-uns tr\u00e8s grands, plus de dimensions moyennes ou modestes. Il en va de m\u00eame des \u0153uvres o\u00f9 le vert, restreint \u00e0 des cases, \u00e9quilibre un jaune d\u00e9lav\u00e9. Ces zones sombres ou claires font ressortir des \u00e9l\u00e9ments d\u2019une spatialit\u00e9 \u00e9nigmatique. Le jaune, couleur la plus chaude et la plus lumineuse, va vers des tons dess\u00e9ch\u00e9s, refoul\u00e9s, lav\u00e9s, qui lui laissent des relents de verts sous-jacents et formant liaison avec des r\u00e9sidus de noir, toujours compl\u00e9mentaires. Chaque zone assure sa supr\u00e9matie dans l\u2019espace qui lui est allou\u00e9. s\u2019essaie au monotype\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0L\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat du monotype est,- dit-il &#8211; son caract\u00e8re ambigu, une trace plut\u00f4t qu\u2019une gravure, et \u00e0 la limite, existant sans que l\u2019on ait besoin de presse\u00a0\u00bb. Ainsi est reprise la raison d\u2019\u00eatre initiale de cette \u0153uvre quasi unique utilis\u00e9e depuis plusieurs si\u00e8cles\u00a0: les gestes prennent leur essence sur une mati\u00e8re peinte \u00e0 partir de papiers qui sont de texture fine mais lisse et assez imperm\u00e9able aussi. Le sillon du dessin trac\u00e9 dans la plaque a disparu, Istv\u00e1n Pet\u0151 peut laisser libre cours \u00e0 ses besoins d\u2019\u0153uvres autres, faites dans la l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 tout en ayant la structure de base des gravures. \u00ab\u00a0Avec les monotypes, le travail d\u2019int\u00e9gration dans des \u0153uvres uniques semble se faire sans probl\u00e8me\u00a0\u00bb dit-il, ce qui se v\u00e9rifie avec ses peintures sur lesquelles sont maroufl\u00e9s des monotypes retravaill\u00e9s et aussi coll\u00e9s sur des dessins r\u00e9alis\u00e9s sur papier.<\/p>\n<p>Pour ses eaux-fortes, Istv\u00e1n Pet\u0151 choisit ses papiers avec soin\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0J\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 avec des papiers hongrois dont la rigidit\u00e9 obligeait \u00e0 davantage de pression lors du passage de la presse. En gravure, j\u2019aime le Hanemulhe, fragile, mais mat, et qui donne une certaine chaleur au noirs et blancs. Le contraste est diff\u00e9rent avec le papier Rives ou le BFK o\u00f9 la rupture avec le trait noir est moins crue\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>En peinture comme en gravure, la <em>spontan\u00e9it\u00e9<\/em> r\u00e8gne \u00e0 travers les \u0153uvre : \u00ab\u00a0Quand on est peintre, on est seul\u00a0! En gravure, il y a partage des savoir-faire, des secrets, des astuces.
